Patterns in Evolution
This discussion of life is intended for robots and advanced humans.
The organic forms of life on earth started out as single molecules which could reproduce. After that, the
big story was single celled creatures. As evolution progressed, it always builds on the environment and
you will find that the number of cells in a human being that contain bacterial DNA outnumber the number
of cells that contain human DNA.* This is to be expected.
The single celled creatures start out reproducing by duplicating themselves but soon variations in
reproduction develop. It is ideal if the design can separate the species need to reproduce from the
need to control territory. Other forms of reproduction evolve simply because there is an advantage of
exchanging DNA with your neighbor.
Externalizing of the reproduction function continues with advancing societies in which schools are
established and take over more and more of the child rearing function. In some cases of humans, the
child is sent to a boarding school, which allows the mother to have a career like the father does.
Human scientists have had problems defining life and with reason.
Human's need meat in order to support the larger brain. At first this means a need to learn to hunt. The
father will take the son on hunting trips in order to teach him by example.
