Index to people and institutions who believe that intelligent machines will be here in 15 years
or less

Humans were designed by natural selection.  Natural selection designs forms of life according to the
basic rule "the survival of the fittest in a given environment."   If you think about it carefully, machines
are evolving the same way.

What is an automobile called when it doesn't work? It is called a lemon, meaning that it is not
recommended. Consumer ratings give it only one star, meaning that it should not be purchased. Some
states mandate that if a newly purchased car keeps breaking down so many times, the dealer or
manufacturer must take it back. Sounds like machines are in the same survival of the fittest rat race like
the rest of the living plants and animals.

Some people believe that God created life and others believe that nature evolved life from nothing. In
the case of an automobile, everyone agrees that there were engineers who designed it. The same is
true of computers. There are cars on the road which check if the driver is watching the road and will
issue a signal if she isn't. Some cars will signal the driver if she is wandering outside the current lane
without signaling. A recent feature in cars are lights which signal if another car is in the driver's
"blindspot".
