List of Funding Approaches
A mediocre search engine is worth more than $150 billion when marketed correctly, if you take the
example of Google. Certainly a manufacturer of autonomous humanoid robots with human intelligence
would be worth at least one trillion dollars.
Software which had only part of the intelligence of a human being could be worth more than Google if
you only implemented the subset of the human mind needed to drive an automobile. One could replace
taxi drivers in a manner like computerized central offices replaced more than a million telephone
operators. Certainly such a business plan could raise at least $100 million. No more drunk driving, the
car drives itself. No more speeding, far fewer traffic jams. Already we know that smart cars can save on
fuel by 33%. (Smart Cars)
Another application would be cleaning a house. Such a robot would be worth a lot of money.
An application which could bring investors and profits would be virtual reality such as Second Life. To
show this, here are recent statistics off of the Second Life website:
Total Residents: 8,766,381
Logged In Last 60 Days: 1,638,492
Online Now: 37,491
US$ Spent Last 24h: $1,417,920
That says that a variation in your approach could be very profitable. A cash influx would allow more
resources to be allocated to your goal of an Emotion Machine.
You could do DARPA challenges:
