Tipping Points
Does your model of the brain permit you to see when machine brains will be less fallible than human
brains in any given area of investigation? Would your brain avoid Taleb's Black Swans better than a
human would, for example? Would it understand the Monty Hall Paradox?
When will the public trust in a central intelligent computer be such that it makes decisions at a national
level? Perhaps I should ask it differently. When would the central computer's opinion be taken as the
way to go more often than not?
If you hire a human stock broker to make your investment decisions, you may find that he makes
decisions which benefit him more than you. At what point will 5% of investors use a robot to advise them
on how to invest? When will that reach 50%?
When will brain implants be so common (5%) that it becomes a fad? How about what profession or job
will it be most required that one has had a brain implant in order to be hired?
When will forgetting proper names become a named disease? When will the first brain implants occur to
fix this disease? We are now at the brain implant stage for Parkinson's disease.
