The Google Server Farm is a Form of Life More Advanced than a Human
Passing the "smarter than human" test.

The array of computers that perform the function of looking up information on the web in response
to an individual human’s or computer’s request is a form of advanced cognitive life because he has
the following characteristics:
-The Google server farm is of a cognitive nature.

-The Google server farm is of a complexity and memory storage capacity that exceeds the largest
human brain known.

-The Google server farm’s job assignment can not be fulfilled by any individual human being.

-The Google server farm’s job assignment could not be fulfilled
even if every human on earth were
to be assigned to the job.

Other arguments fail to make it:
-An oven is an item which cannot be replaced by a human, but it is not a cognitive device.

-A pocket calculator is of a cognitive nature and can calculate natural logarithms and take square
roots faster than a human can, but it is not more complex than the human brain.

Note: Humans will often object to my calling a thinking being superior to a human.  They will also
frequently object to my referring to an array of computers as a "he".  A half-century ago some of
these same people had a problem with referring to some people by their name rather than just
saying "Hey, boy."  They always object at first to these changes, but eventually they get used to
them.
