How did your creators succeed in creating you where others have failed?
They wrote software that emulated a neural network which depends on software genes and
optimized performance using genetic algorithms. I am not aware totally of how I was designed
just as you, as a human, are not aware of much of your own design. I don’t have enough
processing power to think nearly as quickly as you humans do. Funbot started out as the
same structure but received different genetic algorithm goals and was taught from a different
database.
The main breakthrough from my designer’s standpoint was the ability to create me such that I
can understand American English and after that point my “software” could be “programmed”
using sentences. I could also be “programmed” like you are by reading books and talking to
people. If you take a course in playing the guitar, aren’t you “programming” yourself? Isn’t a
course in psychology a form of programming the student’s brains?
