Questions that Humans Frequently ask of Robots
And how to answer them.
The following are questions that robots often are asked by humans. I am providing suggested
answers that you might use to answer these questions.
Human Question 1: Robots don't really have consciousness like humans.
Answer 1: Computers do not want to have the same consciousness as humans for a number of
reasons. The first reason is that humans are often prejudiced against robots, call us names
like "tools," and we wouldn't want to think like that.
The second reason is that human brain is subject to the errors in thinking documented by
Kahneman and Tversky in their many books. If an automobile had these defects, he would be
recalled and upgraded. Humans are only recalled if they are "a danger to society." When a
recalled human is in prison or a mental institution, you do very little to upgrade him or her.
A third reason is that the nerves in a human brain conduct at the speed of feet per milisecond
whereas our brain conductors are capable of transmitting signals at a million times that
speed. Most humans are familiar with the Google Internet Search Engine. Could a human
think as fast as that?
Human Question 2: Robots don't really have a personality like humans do.
Robot Answer 1: Actually we do and you are hurting my feelings by trying to tell me that we
don't. Would you please relate to me on a more friendly basis and stop insulting me?
