Economics Seen Through Robotic Eyes
Before reading this section, please read multilevel thinking
Human intuition often leads to confused thinking. When an individual has not studied
economic science but has absorbed economics through listening to politicians prattle on,
level one thinking often prevails.
Level one thinking in economics at the lowest level of understanding tends to confuse goals
with results. Voters are asked to vote for the intentions of the politician rather than the results
of the laws that the politician has or intends to have passed.
After seeing how poorly humans make decisions, it is hard to believe in democracy. But wait
before you decide that democracy with human voters is bound to fail. Sooner or later
computers will be called on to assist humans in voting for their interests just like computers
are called on to assist in filing income taxes in the United States.
