Human-based communications evolves toward robot-based communications

Basically the cost of data is the same whether it is voice or internet traffic.
But the amount that a carrier can charge for voice has traditionally been more than what can be charged for data.

My Direct TV receivers originally needed a land line phone.  Eventually Direct TV receivers were replaced by newer units which can
use Ethernet connections to your routers.  This is much faster and efficient and saves you the cost of voice services.

Meanwhile Clearwire and Sprint are offering WiMAX 4G service which can replace Comcast Cable's land line (Cable TV) based
internet service with a wireless service at lower speeds for much less money.  Not only is it cheaper to obtain Clearwire internet
service, but also it may be obtained on a portable device such as the new Sprint Evo smart phone.  The portable device is
obviously more portable than the Comcast service.  Before the internet was accessible from my dock at the Lake House via WiFi,
but now I can use internet service via my Evo on boat as I wonder around the whole lake.

We went from AOL on 56k modems over our voice lines as recently as a decade ago to now where our internet service is via
wireless WiMAX, which ironically has been available in the rest of the world such as poor countries like Pakistan, but not in the US
until recently. Since the WiMAX tower installation is cheaper than the old 2G and 3G tower installations, the older systems may
have a problem making enough money to finish paying for their capital outlays.  Essentially they are using an obsolete technology.
Sprint personnel have told me that they will switch WiMAX to LTE as soon as it appears to be logical to do so.

1. Cable for TV
2. Cable for Internet data
3. Modulate phone over Internet data thus reducing the cost of phone service.
Vonage provides this, Comcast provides this, MagicJack provides it dirt cheap.
What does AT&T do with all of those phone lines?  They use them to modulate DSL internet service and bundle it with phone
service.  That is what Midge uses.

So, now we have WiMAX from Clearwire providing dirt cheap data services over which phone calls may be modulated.  The
evolution is now further along and voice is only a subset of data.

As a result, it is increasingly difficult to charge more for voice than data.
