Human-based communications evolves toward robot-based communications Part Three

People are objecting to virtual strip searches as well as “pat downs”.  Robots have no private parts and may be totally inspected
without being humiliated.  The variations in robot design mean that it might be easy to hide a bomb in one.  Take the example of the
toner cartridge which carried a bomb.  Let’s say that you have two physically identical robots in NYC and LA and you want to fly the
NYC robot to LA and the LA robot to NYC.  In this case, you may transport the robot’s minds using the internet rather than the
whole physical robots themselves.

Let’s say you want to play golf in a remote location.  You may play using your Wii hand held devices and a 3D TV to deliver near-
reality scenery.  The plan is to replace the hand-held Wii devices with wrist-watch and anklet devices and eventually allow your
body’s motions to be mimicked by a remote robot.  This could allow eventually allow work to be performed remotely.  Note the
current remote trends of Go To My PC and Go to Meeting.

This year’s Intel Developer’s Forum emphasized the current area of progress toward human-level intelligence.  Currently they are
working on “context aware computing”, which combines ‘social networking’ with hand-held devices to get pocket advisors which
perform functions such as tour guiding.  You want your tour guide to be aware of your own personal preferences.  “Don’t tell me
about all of the restaurants nearby, tell me only about the one’s I would like.”  Rather than your “pocket advisor” it should feel more
like your “personal butler”.
