In 2003, the VP of R&D at General Motors predicted that GM would be manufacturing automobiles
which can drive themselves by the year 2010.  Even if his prediction is a couple of years off, it
convenient.

If we combine the concept of cars driving themselves with the concept of cars being able to talk to
each other on a WiFi-style wireless network, we can see how parking lots could be more efficiently
filled with cars because when someone calls for his car, if the car is blocked in by other cars, it can
request that they please move so that he can get out.

In addition, if we add the concept of car-sharing, which is already taking off without self-driving cars
being available, it seems like the movement toward car-sharing self-driving cars might just eliminate
the need for taxi cabs.
