Power Standby Circuits with Solar Cells

Many TV sets have a standby power requirement so that the TV may be turned on from a remote control
by the user.  It is proposed that such functions may be powered by indoor solar cells.  In the US, there
are 280 million TV sets installed as of April, 2010.  Standby power for these sets has been estimated at
500 million watts. Solar powered calculators are now common but other devices also should become
available as well. Wireless computer peripherals such as keyboards and mice are one such category of
devices.  Batteries could be replaced by rechargable batteries or supercapacitors.

Battery charging from WiFi power is also proposed.

Could a night light be developed which scanned for infrared every few seconds and only turned on when
it detected the presence of a human?
