Dolphin Brain Facts
According to "On Intelligence" by Jeff Hawkins, the dolphin neocortex has a simpler structure
of three layers versus our six. (p. 103)
In addition, dolphins have to sleep while swimming, which means that one-half of their brain
sleeps at a time. This may imply a requirement for a larger brain, perhaps twice as large as an
animal which can place the whole brain in a state of sleep all at once.
Others have noted that dolphins have 5 layers to the human's 6 layers. Must check on this.
