Hugo De Garis believes that intelligent machines, or 'artilects', (a shortened form of 'artificial
intellects') will be far more intelligent than humans and will threaten to attain world
domination, resulting in a conflict between 'Cosmists', who support the artilects, and
'Terrans', who oppose them. And so, he wonders: "Which is the greater moral dilemma? The
risk that humanity might be destroyed if these creatures are created, or the moral tragedy of
not building gods?". In "The March of the Machines" (2004) you also predicted that machines
might take over. In which respect does your vision differ from his? And how would your
answer to De Garis' moral dilemma?

Technology is affecting human life on a deeper level and at a faster and faster pace, as the Singularity
Theory states. At this point in history, do you think technology and human evolution should be addressed
as symbiotic or as independent partners? Will technology directly affect human evolution, natural selection
and genetics?

Do you agree with Mariko Mori's concept of the Uncanny Valley: if robots look too much like
humans, humans felly uncunny about them?
