Why not use robots for commercial pilots?
The Global Hawk is an unmanned vehicle that takes off and lands without a pilot on board. In fact,
nobody is on board. A Global Hawk flew all the way across the Pacific Ocean without a pilot on board.
My question is why we cannot avoid hijacking by eliminating the pilot on board commercial jets?
Recent reports state that we are going to have 5000 Federal Air Marshals flying on airplanes as
protection from hijacking. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to fly airplanes using computerized systems? Robots
could be built into the cockpit and human operated controls removed so that no hijacker could get
control.
