Vista 64 Problems
-64 bit Vista computers cannot run Yahoo's SiteBuilder
-Plan and build computers with SSD drives and RAID controllers. One for Downstairs Lake and another
for upstairs Office HWoods. The D drives cannot go over 2 Terabytes.
-Limit of 2 Terabytes still stands on computers with 64 bit Vista.

Opened a DOS box and executed diskpart.exe
List Disk
Select Disk=0
convert gpt
That converts the disk to the gpt format which allows it to be very large > 2 terabytes.

This issue occurs for one of the following reasons: • You configure the master boot record (MBR) disk as
the boot partition. When the MBR disk is used as the boot partition or as the data partition, 2 TB is set as
the size limit for the MBR disk. For more information about the size limit for the MBR disk, visit the following
Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/LUN_SP1.mspx (http://www.microsoft.
com/whdc/device/storage/LUN_SP1.mspx)
• You configure the GUID partition table (GPT) disk as the boot partition. When you start an operating
system from a GPT disk, the Extended Firmware Interface (EFI)-based BIOS is required. However, the EFI-
based BIOS is not supported in Windows Vista 32-bit editions. Additionally, it is not supported in Windows
Vista 64-bit editions unless you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). Note There is no 2-TB limit if
the GPT disk is used in a data partition. For more information about EFI and Windows Vista, visit the
following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/firmware/efibrief.mspx
-Kittens are chewing any cables in master bedroom including Kindle power supply.
-Cannot receive WiFi signal in MBR Hawthorn Woods on the Laptop computer.
-Fix large color printer HP 4550 in office at HW. There is a separate unit which contains a flexible "drum"
which may need replacing or cleaning. Perhaps information is available on-line on this unit. It is very nice
when it is working properly.
-Set up weather station at Lake house.
-Install Sling-box in Living Room at Lake House
-Install Sling-box in Family Room at Hawthorn Woods
-Install the horizontal Computer in MBR Hawthorn Woods. Clean up cords so they aren't a mess.
--Movies and Photographs. All family photos and movies should be available to all family members.
Transfer movies to hard disc drives. Use DIVX or whatever standard is likely to last a long time. Some
have already been transferred to DVD. These movies should be available via the internet from a central
storage platform. For example, Janine should be able to play a movie via Sling-box if I put the DVD into a
DVD player for her or perhaps a better scheme.
--Look at the various versions of Hitachi 1TB HDD and tell me which one to order. I think that the
cheapest one should be just as good as the more expensive one but is lacking cables or something. But I
don't know.
Get Dana's iTunes working on 5 computers. The one in her bedroom, her laptop (it will be here in HW
April 26-28) and eventually on Janine's as well.
Done--Quiet fans in Blue Acrylic case in HW office.
Done--Get the tablet computer talking bluetooth to my phone.
(do I have to upgrade my Sprint service?)
Done--Fix computer in upstairs office Lake House so it will download mail automatically.
