not use contraceptives nor, of course, should they have abortions. At the same time on the
other side of the world, Paul Ehrlich is still afraid of the overpopulation of the world. Meanwhile
John Searle is trying to defend “human intelligence” and the impossibility of having a computer
that can think. If Paul Erlich and the Pope are examples of what John Searle refers to as
“human intelligence” then it should be easy to surpass their brainpower with a computer.
Actually they are humans who use their brains to defend a position that they are committed to
emotionally. We know this simply because their positions are no longer rational.
