Discussion of Robots by Microsoft

What could a criminal do with a speech synthesis system that could masquerade as a human being?
What happens if artificial intelligence technology is used to mine personal information from smart
phones?

Self-driving cars, software-based personal assistants and service robots in the home.
Self-driving cars would be a good thing. There are 1.2 million deaths worldwide each year from traffic
accidents. Robotic driving should be introduced in a way that eliminates or greatly reduces traffic
accidents. Also, by not having to have the driver concentrate on driving during a commute then it would
be possible to free up 1-2 hours a day for productivity which would increase economic growth.
Just as robotic automation has eliminated jobs in the past but then increased overall wealth and created
more jobs than were destroyed.
Electric powered, exclusive robotic car urban transportation zones could accelerate the deployment of
robotic cars.
There is a lot of progress towards robotic cars on city wide scales.

All the robotic cars could be electrically powered because they would only operate within a section of city
or eventually a whole city. When no one is in the vehicle the car would go to maintenance and
recharging areas as needed.

Because there would be no human piloted cars, city parking within the zone would be freed up either to
park the robotic cars or for increased densification of the city.

Robotic cars could have variety as needed. Some could be trucks for moving cargo. Some could have
flat beds which could even transport cars across the no car zone.
