Advice from Dad to Janine

If you read the book, Quirkology, you will find that people lie.  Everybody lies.  Some
people lie more than others.

Everyone also wants to have other people think well of them.  Depending on how you
were brought up, your view of what is expected of you is different.  Your mother was
brought up in a family where all four children had different fathers.  Robert's father
was a man he thought was his step-father.  A man he didn't like, he tells us.  He
didn't find out until after he grew up.  In such a family, it is not at all strange that
one of those children, you mother Janice, followed in her mother's footsteps and had
children by different men to whom she was not married.  In addition, it is not at all
strange that her oldest daughter has had 7 babies probably by different men as well.
She is proud of getting married to a man who doesn't have a job most of the time.

Your mother is very angry at me because if I had not interferred, she could have had
Karen act as your mother.  But wait...Karen is the same person who even at a much
older age has been deemed 7 times to be so inadequate as a mother that all of her
babies have been taken away from her.  This is what your mother wishes happened
to you.  She tells you that I had an unfair advantage because I had more money.
Actually my "unfair advantage" was based on the fact that I didn't neglect children,
nor did I pass them on to 8 year-old children to be babysat.  It was your mother's
reputation that caused the rare event of giving two of her children to the father
rather the usual situation of the mother having custody.
