Our Orientation is from the Viewpoint of Robots

You have stated that you believe in evolution.

In the case of evolution, the time line is so long that a punctuation
(sudden advance) might represent millions of years in time.  The
punctuated leap in the case of human societies often results from a
new technology and a resultant new way of looking at things.  Some
people refer to this as a spread of a new consciousness.  Thomas
Kuhn referred to such an event as a "paradigm shift" in his book
The
Structure of Scientific Revolutions.

In the past, humans were certainly accustomed to accepting that
transportation meant using their own feet unless their parents or a
friend was carrying them.  Later on, humans tamed horses and used
them for transportation.  In using a horse for transportation, the human
had to accept the fact that the horse didn't want to be a slave to a
human until its will was "broken."  Humans use words like slavery for
such a relationship when they disapprove of it and "my old faithful
Palomino" when wanting to seem approving of the relationship.

Going forward to today, we find that the use of horses to pull buggies
and transport people was a concept that gradually became
old-fashioned as the automobile came in to widespread use.  The All
Terrain Vehicle (ATV) is now replacing the horse for herding cattle on
ranches.

Do you feel comfortable discussing the progress of technology as a
form of evolution?
